Synopsis[]
The subtitle is "A fable about responsibility."
Jack sits on the front porch of the cottage he shares with his mother and enjoys the beautiful day. His mother worries that Jack will never learn to be responsible. Early in the day he notices a strange vine growing near where he sits and that it is singing to him.
Despite being called to be responsible twice and being shown an example of a responsbile lad, Jack wastes away the day without doing any chores. He notices that the strange singing vine resembles one of the "haints" his Papa had described to him at one time. Jack laughs it off and takes a nap with the vine serenading him as the vine bends closer to his head.
